Barbara Pelman is an award-winning poet, and a teacher with over thirty years’ experience in high schools and universities. Now retired, she has conducted poetry workshops in her home, in schools, and in with teachers. She is an active participant in the Victoria poetry community, as an assistant at Planet Earth Poetry. She has four books, “One Stone” (Ekstasis 2005) “Borrowed Rooms” (Ronsdale Press 2008) “Narrow Bridge” (Ronsdale Press 2017) and recently, A Brief and Endless Sea (Caitlin Press 20223) as well as a chapbook, “Aubade Amalfi” (Rubicon Press 2016) A number of her poems can be found in literary journals, anthologies, and travelling on the buses. Her poems have won prizes: BC Federation Literary Writes in 2005 and 2014, and the Malahat Review Open Seasons 2018, and have been shortlisted for other contests. She lives in Victoria but travels to Vancouver to see her family and her ancient mother.
